Actuary Named as One of the Highest Paying Hot Job Opportunities
According to Challenger Survey on Top-Paying Positions
You no longer have to be a doctor, lawyer, or investment banker to earn more than $100,000.
Six of the 10 hottest and highest paying jobs are in fields that benefited the most from the heightened fear and uncertainty that have persisted since September 11, 2001.
Among the biggest gainers are jobs related to risk assessment and management, according to 2003 analysis of industry data and the latest figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc., the international outplacement firm.
"About two million recent high school graduates are entering college this fall. There are probably a million or more current college students who have yet to make a career choice. Those looking to take home larger than average paychecks should be preparing for occupations that are now and will continue to be in high demand in the post-September 11 world," said John A. Challenger, chief executive officer of Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Actuaries rank second on the Challenger list of hot, high paying jobs, with top performers median annual salaries reaching $122,000. Actuaries have gained greater importance in the wake of September 11 as companies first line of defense in preparing for future risks.
